Adios! to “The Most Interesting Man in the World”

While the name Jonathan Goldsmith might not immediately ring a bell, it’s hard to deny recognizing the face of Goldsmith for he is “The Most Interesting Man in the World”.

For almost a decade, Jonathan Goldsmith has been the face of Dos Equis’ “The Most Interesting Man in the World”, a character created as part of a long-standing advertising & marketing campaign for the Heineken-owned beer brand. Commercials featuring the now 77-year old Goldsmith would include a few quirky and funny one-liners (some of which were really good) that would captivate audiences, helped to boost brand awareness & popularity and ultimately boost sales. Goldsmith would close out each commercial with the line “I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis” followed by “Stay thirsty, my friends.”

It was announced earlier in the month that Dos Equis would be retiring “The Most Interesting Man in the World”, giving Goldsmith’s distinguished & intriguing character, one last send-off . . . a one-way trip to Mars. The farewell send-off spot is currently airing and you can also find it on YouTube. The spot keeps in the tradition of quirky one-liners throwing out “His only regret is not knowing what regret feels like.” While Goldsmith will leave the role, there are reports that a new actor will take over the role of “The Most Interesting Man” in new advertising campaigns coming in the Fall. No specific details have been announced but we’ll certainly be keeping our eyes out for the new campaign. As for Goldsmith’s “Most Interesting Man”, we will certainly miss the character he stepped into and made his own for the past decade. Goldsmith’s “The Most Interesting Man in the World” certainly made watching commercials a bit more interesting. On that note, we bid farewell to “The Most Interesting Man in the World”. Adios amigo!
